Lego My Ego

I was going to take a self portrait tonight, not for any vainglorious reason I have to say, more to convince myself I’m actually visible tonight – I nearly got knocked off my bike twice tonight in the space of 60 seconds and not by the same person either 😦 I was even obeying the highway code and everything! Call me Mr Cellophane

I did think I was going to get a punch on the noggin for my troubles too, but driver #2 eventually drove off after mumbling an apology 🙂

Tonight’s photo is the first of the Lego themed pics – there maybe more, and there maybe not! I haven’t quite decided 😀

Curtains for English football 🙂

They are happy curtains – they lead from the kitchen to the garden, and as such I keep my promise from yesterday 😉 I’m knacked though, almost falling asleep through tea, whilst taking the photo, and now whilst watching the Spain match and typing this blog – maybe I need an early night 🙂 Oooh, Costa has just been given a red card – that’s woken me up – looks a bit of a dodgy decision mind! Quite what these footy players would do on a rugby league pitch is anyone’s guess – not a lot would be one of mine, cry a lot would be another 😀

Match over, right, I’m off to bed.

Blue Monday across the nation…

I feel sorry for the road sweepers who’ll have bucketloads of grubby white flags to clear up today – I wonder if there’ll be a national crisis where all the countries gutters will be blocked by discarded vehicle ornamentation 🙂

I’d planned this shot for a while (in the vain hope that if I knew what I would shoot if England got knocked out, they wouldn’t get knocked out ;)) but when it actually came to taking the photo, I felt a right eejit rolling around in the floor with a flag . I’m not sure if the locals really understood what I was doing , and due to this unease, the pic was a bit rushed and wasn’t quite as I imagined it, but there you go – ’tis done. I’m sure David Bailey never worried about what people thought 😦

It’ll be cheerier tomorrow, I promise 🙂

In the morning we believed!

It may been foolish, but every 4 years for the football, and every year with the rugby I always believe the hype and think “this time maybe” and every time I end up disappointed – but at least now I can forget about the dire performance of the vastly overrated and overpaid English team, and concentrate on enjoying the footy – oh bum, I’ve just realised I’ve missed the Brazil match 🙂 From now on I’m Spanish, thanks to the sweepstake at work – if I win it’s 35 quid towards a new lens 😉

The pic itself is of the beautiful Claire, my niece, and one of the few hundred I took over the weekend – it’s still a thousand fewer than my Mum though 😉

It was a clan meet in the lovely village of Burley in Wharfedale, hosted by D&J this year, so I took the opportunity to wander about the village and take some snaps – being in Yorkshire, all the benches in town were emblazoned with a carving of the white rose, the sun caught this one in a rather fetching way, so it makes picture of the day!

Some more may appear in the next few days (from the day in general rather than bench carvings!), but none were so fab they will deffo get posted – booo! Is that an excuse for me to buy some more camera gear I wonder 😉 Do I need an excuse I wonder? Do I have any money is more to the point…

I blame the camera operator myself anyway 😀

Should have taken the camera to the pub! And so I learnt a valuable lesson today – never travel without camera 🙂

I knew I’d taken a photo, so I wasn’t too worried, but they didn’t turn out that good, humbug! A picture of Timothy Taylors Golden Best would have made a much better pic, but in order to do so I would have actually had to have taken the camera to D&J’s local 🙂 Never mind, the pint certainly made up for it, and the other two were just an added bonus!

As I was feeling negative about the whole situation, I had an idea….

A bit of black and white!

It’s an indication of how knacked I am that this weeks photies have not even managed to get free from the garden – for that I do apologise, but at least you don’t have to put up with the fact I stink of kerosene 🙂 Work has involved a bit of spannering and even a touch of angle grinding this week, enjoyable apart from the fact I kept dropping very heavy lumps of steel on my fingers – fortunately not my shutter finger 😉 But there is always tomorrow!

Nice sunset tonight as I write this, just a shame I’m stuck to the sofa!

A celebration for the boys in red! Hurrah!

It should maybe have been the photo for Monday, as a nod to the start of Wimbledon, but I was far too tired to think of that sort of thing, plus the fact I haven’t even watched any of the tennis – it seems a bit odd that it’s not raining 🙂

So instead it’s a picture to celebrate the footy win, the boys in the change strip of red actually played like a team, and did a bit better than the dreadful performances of recent days – it was even worth watching it at work and having to make up the time 🙂 As I’m typing this, it’s looking like we’ll meet the Germans – bring it on!

The strawberry in the photo is the first of the back garden crop to ripen – we’ve got some riper from the front garden being slowly digested in my tummy as we speak 😀 I quite fancy a bit of meringue now I think of it….

Abstract Tuesday!

I’m really liking this one, maybe I should send it to Ikea and see if they’d like to licence it 😉 You should be able to tell what it is, abstract doesn’t mean unidentifiable 😀

It was very nearly this, an even abstracter effort, a photo of a bush taken through a holey floor mat giving a really peculiar effect 🙂 Quite what is going on, I’m not really sure.  The leaf wins out in the end of the day 🙂

All good stuff and certainly cheers me up after the day I’ve had!

Not at all sure what these are called 🙂

The sun is out, and summer feels as though it has finally arrived 🙂 After a crappy day at work, and not enough sleep over the weekend, it was nice to sit outside and soak up some rays – the camera was out and the bugs were playing for us, but quite what they were, I have no idea! We even have strawberries ripening in the garden 🙂

I’m going to stop writing now, as I really need some sleep!
