Last blooms of the year?

Only 100 days to go, and the nights are beginning to draw in, but fortunately there are still one or two flowers left in the garden – I’m not sure they’ll last much longer, but it was enough to get a few pics for the TTV collage 🙂 Following the picture taking I needed to wrestle with the lawn – the two weeks holiday was enough to produce an unrecognisable forest where the grass had been, complete with myriad of biting things – I’m not sure my shins will ever be the same, but I think it looks better!

In need of a stiff drink 😉

This is a close up of the evenings entertainment, part of the 5 litre cask of wine left over from the holiday (yes, we are that classy!), much needed after the second day of work this week (for some people anyway!) – it’s been a while since I’ve done two full days on the trot, and it’s really quite tiring it must be said – quite what I’ll be like at the end of the week is anyone’s guess – not a pretty site I’m sure 😉

Only 101 days to go – that needs celebrating I’d have thought!?

The few survivors!

These are the first blooms on the Cape Fuchsia this season due to a plague of strange beetle type insects which managed to turn the first flush of buds into something resembling tar earlier in the year – a shame as the plant looks pretty good when in full bloom. It is one of those plants, however, which seems to hide it’s light under a bushel – I’d never realised how nice each of the flowers were, just due to the way the flowers sit.

I quite like the way the droplets sit on the outer petals, nice!

Finally back on track 🙂

With the blog anyway – there are still loads of pictures to sort out form the holiday, but at least I can do them at my leisure 😉 It’s half six on Sunday, and I’m wondering where the weekend has gone – I’ve still a load of films that need processing, but it doesn’t look like it’ll get done today – there is always tomorrow 🙄

A spot I’ve been meaning to photograph for ages – it’s just next to Star City in Brum, and they always seem to be empty – I guess it adds to their appeal, the shapes of the frame against the sky. I was hoping to be able to get a bit closer so that I could use a wider angled view and distort the perspective a bit more, but it was not to be unfortunately – unless I wanted to try some urbex style scrambling over railings and fences.

The pic as it turned out was pretty good, so it didn’t matter in the end – I’m happy!

Back to basics…

Another quick one needed due to the volume of pictures I need to get through from the trip, and as there are still some flowers in the garden, so I thought I’d take advantage 🙂 I like the contrast between the claret and gold, and strangely foretelling Huddersfield’s victory over Warrington in the super league playoffs 😉 Rugby League for those who don’t have any idea of what is going on!!

I can’t remember the name of the flower however….

Keeping up the French theme 🙂

Not a souvenir from this holiday, but one from the big trip, slightly worn, and a bit mangled from a tour de france  ‘incident’.

I’m knackered from the holiday, so a quickie was needed –  and this is it! I promise there’ll be more wordage as I catch up with the backlog!

Fortunately today was better than the last couple, and I was able to take pics in the relative dry! This is from a park in Brugge where they’d set out thousands of different shaped lantern holders (I’m guessing). It would have been a brilliant sight to see with them lit, but as ours was a flying visit it didn’t happen unfortunately. Last day of the holiday – 8 hours later we were back home 😦

A long drive home today due to the rain in Germany – we stopped, eventually, for the night in Brugge, and were welcomed by the torrential rain. This isn’t the best pic of the evening, but kind of sums up the evening – fortunately the camera survived the soaking 🙂

One of the many many fountains in the town of Kleve (or Cleves, depends on how you feel at the time I think) – what should have been a great photo opportunity was lost due to the fading light of today, and the torrential downpours of the next day – harrumph!
