Photographing cuddly toys!

I know, but as I’d gone to the trouble of getting the flashes and brollies for a different project, I thought I’d make the most of them and take some pictures of what came to hand – unfortunately there wasn’t much choice… I really need to invest in some props!

I’ve done alot of odd things to keeping this project going – but spray painting walls isn’t one of them!

I was going to say this was conveniently placed for a quick pic on my way home from work today, but it wasn’t – it was at the end of a very slippery slope next to a canal and my footwear has absolutely no grip  – I did imagine I’d drop in at any point – not what you’d want (not what I’d want anyway).

But it’s my initials, so it has to go in the project!

Sunshine! And Snow!

I should really have been doing important stuff in the house (Christmas pressies, diy, tidying etc etc) but the sun was out – what more should I say? After an initial foray into the garden (maybe I should have worn something more than just slippers)  a repeat of yesterday! I plugged myself into the ipod, put on my mittens and headed off into the big white world – the snow was on the verge of disappearing it must be said (when there was snow, there was no sun!) but it was good to be out, and the first real time I’ve shot the new lens with a bit of sun.

A good day was had by all despite me not being able to feel my fingers after the first hour, maybe I should have taken some hand warmers with me?? Much more to do tomorrow now 😉

A little bit of blue sky!

I’ve not seen it recently, so I had to plug myself into the ipod and wander up the road with camera in hand – it was actually a bit greyer than I’d anticipated, so most of the pics didn’t turn out quite how I’d hoped, but there were one or two that did the trick.

All I need is a little bit of sun!

It’s getting colder!

Even more so – as I write this the temperature outside is minus 3 and there is snow on the ground! At least for the last couple of days the council have kindly gritted the roads, something I couldn’t have said a week ago despite there being a thin veneer of ice on the road into work. It’s a bit disconcerting being on a bike and turning the handlebars and nothing happens – it happened to me twice on two consecutive days in the same place – fortunately I was able to react quickly enough and remained on said two wheels, rather than taking a closer look at the road!

This pic was more difficult to take than I’d imagine – it was supposed to be quick and easy after working over, but for some reason the digits were really blurred when the exposure was long – the display must flicker slightly which normally you wouldn’t notice, but when exposing for a second or more it was horrible – who’d have thought it eh? Up the iso and a quick shutter speed, phew!

Oh no! The ideas are running out so I’m taking clichéd pics of smoke trails! If my eyes weren’t sore enough before, they certainly are now. I do quite like the shot though!

A bit of colour, a bit of out of focusness – it has to be abstract Tuesday!

Polish Vodka Shot!

It’s banned from the US apparently due to the fact that bison grass contains the toxic compound coumarin, which is prohibited as a food additive by the Food and Drug Administration, importing of Żubrówka into the United States was banned in 1978 by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.

When produced according to traditional methods (between one and two kilograms of grass per thousand litres of alcohol), Żubrówka contains approximately 12 milligrams of coumarin per litre. In 1999, Polish distilleries introduced reformulated U.S.-export versions of the product, sometimes using artificial flavours and colours, always with the emblematic blade of grass in every bottle, but “neutralised” and coumarin-free!

It’s been too long without a cemetery or two!

So I thought I’d wander down to the ‘local’ and pop a few pics – it’s a grey day, but I think that kind of adds to the atmosphere, and it gives the new lens a run out (still no sun mind!)

I must say I was quite impressed with the lens, the pics seem to be pretty darn good at the moment. I do wonder what people must think when they see me wandering around with a huge camera in the graveyard, whether they think it’s a bit disrespectful – no problems so far though!

I love this photograph melarky!

An evening spent with the off camera flashes and a couple of heart shaped hand warmers (topical really, it’s freezing!) and this is the result – not bad really!
