A little bit of colour…

Time for a bit of colour!

The last few weeks have been a black and white bonanza, so I thought I’d liven it up by taking some colour pics! I got totally confused and tried uploading this as a project52 photo, before realising I can’t as I took this last week, so it’ll have to be an extra special treat!

The bluebells in the garden are out in all their glory (although they are the Spanish variety I’m afraid to say…) and are a brilliant subject for us photographers out there – it’s just a case of getting them in the correct light, and without moving too much in the wind! Some more can be seen here and here, and even a pic of the English variety 🙂

I’ve got a few days off, so hopefully if the weather holds I’ll be off out taking some photies – no wedding inspired themes though, just in case you were wondering. I was hoping to go far and wide, but the reality may be somewhat different alas – too much “other stuff” getting in the way… I’m just not dedicated enough!

I know!

It’s not even a Tuesday, but I like it! Not much else to say really, I like the depth of field that the macro lens gives (the way the whisk blades go out of focus as they travel away from the camera), and the slightly odd colour the white balance adjustment has given me. All in all I’m relatively happy!

And I’m on holiday!

More of the poppy love!

As I was going out tonight it had to be a quick one, as I’m sure you don’t want a pic of the inside of the Yew Tree Pub – it’s not the most interesting or photogenic of places (although last night there was a chap who spent all night barking to his dog) indeed, it’s not even a particularly nice place to drink – but it is the pub within walking distance of the house that has the highest chance of surviving the evening (me that is, not the pub!)

Anyhoo, the poppy theme continues!

Another macro shot!

I may have to do a series on this for the next couple of days – these nights drawing in are playing havoc with my photies – I need some studio type ideas!

Mind you I very nearly turned my bike around this morning as old faithful looked fantastic in the sun this morning – I really should be carrying the camera at all times – I could even take photos of the local wasteland during my lunchtime. May just be an idea…

Tuesday’s back!

I’m not sure what happened here, the colour on the laptop looked significantly different to that which appears here, just a bit more lively for some reason 😦 Anyhoo, I still like the photo and it fits into the abstract theme set out for Tuesdays this year!

Can you tell what it is? The colour gives a clue to the pic if that’s any help 😉

I thought it was time we did a bit more macro photography, and as these little beauties were hiding in the garden, I thought they’d do. I’m pretty happy with this pic, the texture on the outside of the poppy looks pretty fab!

Maybe I need to get this one printed out!

Goodie or baddie?

I have no idea really, but he was caught inside the house this evening and appeared to be in somewhat of a stupor, but even in his dazed state it was still impossible for me to control him properly. If I moved him into a better position his legs would disappear and the shot would be crap, but as soon as his legs popped out he would rotate so I was shooting up his backside so to speak – unfortunately I was cooking tea at the time, and so couldn’t divert all my attention his way for fear of burning the curry.

Never mind, I like it despite not having his dangly bits properly in focus!

Out in the garden again!

I needed to get the flash out as I’d dallied in the house too long, and the sun had gone down by the time I got my camera out – we’ve got these lovely little flowers popping out at the moment, I have no idea what they are, but they wave about in the wind slightly too much to be photographed easily!

The flash tended to make the flower look a bit overblown, but this was one of the better pics – the processing makes the petals look like they have been painted, I’m liking the effect.

The rest of the evening was spent processing film, and if I get my finger out you may see the results tomorrow!

The last rays of the summer caught on the last flowers in the garden…

OK, maybe not quite true as there are one or two blooms left, but a clear night and a little frost and it’ll be gone – I can quite imagine it happening too – tis only a matter of time, and then what will I have to photograph??

I left work a bit early today (compared with last week anyway) to make the most of the sun as it’s such a beautiful day – the downpours of yesterday are but a distant memory, and it was even warm enough to sit out into the garden, not something we’ve done enough of this year.

In need of a stiff drink 😉

This is a close up of the evenings entertainment, part of the 5 litre cask of wine left over from the holiday (yes, we are that classy!), much needed after the second day of work this week (for some people anyway!) – it’s been a while since I’ve done two full days on the trot, and it’s really quite tiring it must be said – quite what I’ll be like at the end of the week is anyone’s guess – not a pretty site I’m sure 😉

Only 101 days to go – that needs celebrating I’d have thought!?
